This moment happens very swiftly, but I found it so moving how, with fires blazing behind them, and embers flying on that windy night, Captain Robert Foxworthy of CalFire deftly removes an ember from the arm of Katie Nielsen, the reporter interviewing him. A second later he glances back to confirm that the ember is out. He does this with so much naturalness and ease, and quickly checks back in a way that brought to mind the Zen koan that suggests that compassionate action can be as natural as reaching for the pillow in the night.
perfect.
thank you genine.
